Students with Disabilities

The Career Center provides career development and employment services for students with disabilities. These resources include:

  • Individual assistance with a career professional
  • Interviewing and resume writing assistance
  • Recruitment events for full time employment and internships
  • Information related to the Americans with Disabilities Act as it relates to employment
  • Links to sites serving individuals with disabilities

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Workforce Recruitment Program
The Federal Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal agencies nationwide with undergraduate and graduate college students and recent graduates with disabilities (US citizenship required) seeking temporary (summer) or permanent jobs.

FEDERAL & STATE RESOURCES

Pathways Programs
The U.S. Federal Government Pathways Programs have been created to help current students find paid internships, and recent graduates, full-time openings, with federal agencies. You can search for these kinds of openings via a link on the website to USA Jobs – the federal government’s official jobs site. For assistance with a federal government employment application and/or to learn how to receive academic credit for an internship, contact the Rutgers-Camden Career Center.

Individuals with disabilities can apply to federal jobs non-competitively through a process called “Schedule A,” or through the traditional (competitive) process. See: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/disability-employment/getting-a-job/.

Job Accommodation Network (JAN)
JAN – a service of the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Disability Employment Policy – is the leading source of free and confidential guidance on workplace accommodations and employment issues for individuals with disabilities (and their families) working or seeking to work in either the public or private sector.

NJ Disability Resource Directory
The Division of Disability Services, through the NJ Department of Human Services, publishes an annual statewide directory of programs and services, including employment and training resources, to assist NJ residents with disabilities.
